Chief Executive

 

Simon McCloy Chief Executive - Simon McCloy - MTMI. MIH. MCIM.

Simon has over 30 years operational and marketing experience with several major PLC hotel operators including many years running his own businesses. He has worked as a tourism and marketing officer within the public sector and been leading on destination marketing for over 10 years. Simon has been the Chief Executive of Direct Tourism Services since 2002 and is a full member of the Institute of Hospitality, Tourism Management Institute, the Tourism Society and Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Business Support and Marketing Team

 

Claire Owen Senior Marketing Officer - Claire Owen. BA (Hons) Advertising, Media & Design Management.

Claire joined the company after working for 2 years at Mid Wales community regeneration organisation L.L.A.N.I. Ltd, introducing and managing a number of joint tourism marketing initiatives. Claire has also travelled extensively and undertaken a number of volunteer projects abroad, including teaching English.

Claire has a 1st Class honours degree in Advertising, Media & Design Management.

 

Jodie Stephen Business Support Officer - Jodie Stephen - MTMI.

Jodie joined the team in June 2003. After several years of experience in varied careers, including catering, dental nursing (!) and working at a local visitor attraction, Jodie decided to return to college to study Travel and Tourism. Her main roles includes membership support, providing secretarial support for some of the tourism associations, coordinating the advertisement sales for the Shropshire and Welsh Borders brochure, Places to Visit and various other publications.

Jodie is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has a Professional Certificate in Marketing.

 

Emily Harrison Business Support & Marketing Assistant - Emily Harrison, MA Heritage Studies: Interpretation, Presentation & Design, BA (Hons).

Emily joined Shropshire Tourism in June 2011. Emily has had a diverse career to date, including working as Cabin Crew for easyJet before embarking on a Masters in Heritage Studies, where she achieved a Distinction. She has spent the last three years working for the National Trust, as Assistant Visitor Services Manager at Powis Castle.

In her leisure time Emily enjoys overseas travel, and a little closer to home you'll often find her walking and climbing.

Emily's main roles at Direct Tourism Services include membership support, providing secretarial support to the Tourism Associations, project managing brochure production and providing administrative support.

 

Website Development Team

 

Senior Web Development Officer - Kay Corbett Kay Corbett

Kay joined the team after working within the internet department of a local IT solutions supplier for 8 years. During this time Kay was the company's website designer working on both client and internal projects. Alongside her role as a website designer Kay also created showroom marketing materials, managed domain renewals/transfers and handled orders for services such as website hosting and ADSL services. Kay's main role is to design, develop and improve customer and internal websites.

 

Lee Stewart Web Development Officer - Lee Stewart - BA (Hons) Interactive Multimedia

Lee has recently joined the company, starting in November 2011. His previous employment includes a variety of IT based roles involving software programming, server management, web design/development and hardware/software maintenance. During this time he has developed a keen interest in web technology and has chosen this as the base of his career.

In his spare time he enjoys winter trips to the slopes with his snowboard and relaxing on warm beaches during the summer.

His main roles at Direct Tourism Services include developing and maintaining customer websites.

 

Accounts Team

Lucy Cruise Accounts Assistant - Lucy Cruise - BA (Hons) Geography

After graduating from The University of Liverpool with a BA Honours degree in Geography, Lucy embarked on a career in the finance sector. She is AAT qualified and a CIMA finalist and previously worked as a Management Accountant at an IT company.

She has been lucky enough to travel far and wide, but due to family commitments travel plans are temporarily on hold and she currently works only ten hours a week covering the Accounts function.

Direct Tourism Services also uses a range of special support organisations and associates, including designers and printers. This ensures that you get the strongest possible team for your individual requirements.
